Key Constraints

  • Low levels of awareness and understanding of ongoing trade reforms and WTO
  • Insufficient access to trade-related information

RTLC activities

RTLC will work with countries to:

  • Organize training events to promote greater awareness of WTO. Improve availability of information on legal and policy matters, trade procedures, customs, transportation, and ongoing reforms
  • Promote greater understanding of requirements for full WTO compliance and the benefits of WTO membership among business community, professional associations, and government agencies
  • Assist public and private sectors to better understand trade requirements in foreign markets
  • Create regional forums to discuss and coordinate trade policies across countries

Expected Output

  • Strengthened knowledge of trade policy, WTO, transportation and customs issues among the public sector and the business community
  • Improved multilateral dialogue between private and public sectors in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on trade and transit policy issues
  • Increased private sector capacity to influence policy dialogue and advocate for trade reform
  • Expanded access to market information, esp. for export markets
