The Russian edition of “The Law and Policy of WTO” by Peter Van den Bossche was presented in Astana

"Pravila i Politika WTO" is the title of the Russian version of "The Law and Policy of WTO" by Peter Van den Bossche presented at Kazakh Humanitarian Law University in Astana on September 2, 2011. Peter Van den Bossche is a distinguished professor of International Law and a member of the highest judicial instance of the World Trade Organization - Appellate Body.

 

 

This textbook is one of the best textbooks in the world devoted to the WTO Law, and was for the first time translated into Russian with the support of the USAID's Regional Trade Liberalization and Customs Project in Central Asia. The textbook tells about basic principles of international trading system and explains institutional aspects of the WTO and related legal issues. The textbook is of great value due to the detailed analysis of rulings made by the WTO Appellate Body during the settlement of trade disputes between WTO member states. This publication is first to suggest that WTO rules on the protection of intellectual property rights, technical barriers to trade, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures being studied.

 

 

 

The book is intelligible and useful for students studying WTO rules, as well as for practicing lawyers, trade negotiators and others, who take a deep interest in international trade policy.

 

 

 

USAID RTLC Project have distributed 500 copies of the textbook to leading economics and law universities of Central Asia, agencies and institutions involved in trade negotiations on accession to WTO and/or regional trade agreements with a view of providing assistance in training qualified personnel for making reasonable decisions on regional trade policy, which will contribute to the development of regional cooperation, welfare improvement and maintenance of peace and stability in the region.

Due to copyright limitations, the full Russian translation for the book is not available for download. It is available for use through the universities and libraries in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan listed in the attached distribution list.
