  • Complex clearance procedures and long clearance times at border crossing points
  • Excessive and unclear documentation requirements
  • Inefficient and/or duplicate cargo examinations

RTLC Activities

RTLC will work with countries to:

  • Simplify documentary requirements for import, export and transit
  • Improve compliance with international conventions for transit traffic
  • Accelerate the clearance of imports and exports at border crossing points
  • Improve national and regional dialogue on trade facilitation among carriers, freight forwarders, customs agencies, traders, and government agencies
  • Strengthen regional networks of freight forwarders
  • Conduct training events and support regional forums to disseminate information on transport logistics and transit facilitation

Expected Output

  • Reduced transit costs and increased predictability of transit and transportation systems
  • Reduced waiting time at border crossing points
  • More streamlined and harmonized transit rules and charges
  • More effective cooperation between countries on transit and transport issues
